it’s raining cats and dogs: ch. ii

sometimes her eyes get glassy and you can see the moon reflected in her eyes.
my sister describes them as moonstone but it doesn’t make sense because she’s feline. they should be cat’s eye.

sometimes her eyes get large and dark and round and i call them obsidian.
my sister disagrees; they’re too soft to be obsidian.

sometimes her eyes are just yellow.
when she steps into the light, they’re just yellow. she likes to watch us with yellow eyes. they’re evil.
we adore her anyway.

(she probably wants to kill us.)

My New Headphones!

My piano teacher’s family gave me these new headphones! They are goodness! I can put them around my neck and feel cute! I can watch movies without needing subtitles because if I listen to it louder my parents will hear! I can watch dumb videos without embarrassing myself in front of my roommate! I can listen to music and actually hear what’s going on in the background! N I C E (also my earbuds broke)

I have a special interest in linguistics and language-learning, so I just wanted to share my extremely limited progress.

  • Mandarin (kind of native: family and Chinese school)
  • Spanish (5 on the AP Spanish exam)

Languages I’m actively trying to learn:

  • Standard Arabic (alphabet)
  • Korean (useless vocabulary)
  • Latin (basics, got through a beginner-level workbook)
  • Italian (rushed through Level 1 of the Duolingo tree)
